After We're Gone: Survey on Future Housing Needs
of Family Members with Mental Illness
The Orange County chapter of NAMI-NYS is conducting a survey of families who provide care for loved ones with mental illness. As family care givers age, they have major concerns about the future of their family member who would no longer have their personal care at home. They would still not be able to live independently and perhaps not have housing options available to them.
The "After We're Gone" survey is part of a project designed to help families plan for the future and to determine future housing needs. The Orange County Department of Mental Health is supporting this effort.
Orange County residents who provide care to their loved ones with a mental illness are encouraged to participate in the survey by viewing the survey link, printing and mailing it to the address listed or you may call (845) 956-6264 or 1 (866) 906-6264 to request that the survey be mailed to you. The survey results will help us to understand the magnitude of need for long term, supervised housing and help us to advocate for quality level care in Orange County. All individuals who mail back the short survey will receive a very comprehensive "Life Planning Workbook".
